My sister and I are going to be hitting up Anime Central for three days this year – and since time is short, I figured I could make one new costume for each of us and we could reuse some of the ones from the last convention (my Black Lady cosplay is something I definitely want to wear again.) However, since none of my other projects are going right at the moment, I was feeling frustrated today and I wanted to do something else, something easy to get me out of my funk. Well, there’s a super-easy cosplay that I’ve always wanted to do – Kiki, from Kiki’s Delivery Service, one of my favorite movies. So, I thought about what I wanted my cosplay to look like, made a run to the fabric store, and started and finished this cosplay today.
I did get some sewing done today – not ideally as much as I should have – but some, so I’ll have a proper post tomorrow. For now, here’s another little felted animal I made today – it’s Bigwig, from Watership Down (my favorite book.)
He stands about 2″ tall. I wanted to make him all scarred and lop-eared, but it was too small for me to do any detail. Still, I quite adore him. 😀
I was bad last week and I didn’t update the blog even once… sorry! I am working on a few things, but I seem to have hit roadblocks on every project I’ve started lately and that combined with some unexpected busyness in real life means I haven’t gotten a whole lot of sewing done.
My mum recently started to learn how to felt wool, to make little creatures and such, so I gave that a try with her today. Here’s my first crack at it.
If you’re wondering what it’s supposed to be, it’s an evil kitty sitting on a flying cloud. He flies around and sees into your soul with his empty, sinister eyes. Anyhow, not too bad for my first attempt at this felting stuff – although I did poke enough holes in my fingers to make a sieve in the process.
Anime Central is coming up in mid-May already – yikes! It really crept up on me! I’m going with my little sister again this year and I’ve been planning, but not working on our costumes yet. I’ll be making two for her, at least one for me, and one for my other sister, who’s going to come and hang out with us for a day. So I’ve got quite a lot to do in the next few weeks – I’ve just started one of the costumes but I’m not very far yet, because of, as I said, unexpected roadblocks. I’m hoping to get a good start with what remains of this week, because I’m going to be out of town my next off-week, and after that, it’s April already!
